Transformational leadership is one of the essential skills of the Science of the Positive Framework. Central to this unique leadership framework is the process of ‘hearing and steering’ public narratives, which begins with one-on-one on conversations. While formal marketing and communications such as mission statements, billboards, and brochures can be effective means to convey information, it is often during conversations -- in meetings, school
hallways, or sitting in the bleachers next to another parent -- that a leader actually leads. These conversations are when misperceptions of norms and core assumptions can be challenged and shifted. Using the tenets of motivational interviewing and leadership applications of the Seven Core Principles of the Science of the Positive, the “Let’s Talk” training focuses on developing the skills necessary to effectively facilitate these conversations.
In this highly interactive training, participants will be given opportunities to practice these essential skills and learn how to apply them in both their personal and professional lives. Open to coalition members and community leaders who want to increase the impact of their prevention work.
